Responsibilities of Treasurer

Accounts section is headed by the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall work under the direction and supervision of the Vice-Chancellor and shall be in-charge of the Accounts section of the university.  He/She shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for proper and efficient functioning of this section. 

He/She shall be secretary to the Finance Committee and shall perform such other functions and duties as may assigned to him by the Vice-Chancellor.

Treasurer plays an active role in key policy-making forums. On behalf of the university, the Treasurer is responsible for signing financial agreements, managing assets and investments, and overseeing the control of funds. He also renders advise the Vice-Chancellor in making income and expenditure related decisions of university funds, thereby playing a strategic role in maintaining a sound financial governance.  Subject to the control of the Vice-Chancellor he shall manage the property and investment of the university. He shall be responsible for presentation of the annual budget and statement of  accounts.

He shall exercise general supervision, advise and instruct every department/section of the university to maintain imprest accounts and other properties in accordance with the provision of the relevant rules and conduct internal audit from time to time. 
The treasurer shall advise the Vice Chancellor about admissibility of any payment from the university fund.
